Killer Instinct HYPR Bolts: Every Variant Explained

HYPR crossbolts are carbon shafts built to Killer Instinct's own spec so the arrow weight matches the FPS printed on the bow and the calibrated lines on your Lumix scope. Three things define the line:

• Length: 20 inches is the standard across current Killer Instinct crossbows, so every HYPR variant shares that length.
• Total arrow weight: the standard HYPR runs in the neighborhood of 400 to 430 grains with a 100-grain field point, while the heavier HYPR KE is built up toward roughly 450 grains for more downrange energy. Confirm the exact figure on the package, since Killer Instinct updates the line by season.
• Nock: HYPR bolts use a specific nock (commonly a half-moon or flat nock depending on the platform). The nock has to match your string and rail or you get poor string contact.

Length is the easy part - nearly every current Killer Instinct shoots 20-inch bolts, so a HYPR fits the Boss 405, Fuel 415, Rapid 420, Vital-X 430 and the rest of the lineup on length alone. What actually decides the right variant:

• Match the factory weight. Your bow was rated and your scope calibrated with a particular HYPR weight. If your package came with standard HYPR, replacing them with HYPR Lite will raise FPS and shift your point of impact - and vice versa with HYPR KE.
• Confirm the nock. Check that the replacement HYPR uses the same nock style as the bolts that came with your bow. A mismatched nock is a common cause of poor string engagement.
• Pick by purpose. Faster bows paired with HYPR Lite are great for flat-shooting target sessions; heavier HYPR KE bolts are the pick when penetration on larger game matters more than a few FPS.

• Never shoot underweight bolts. Going below the minimum arrow weight for your model acts like a partial dry fire and can crack limbs. HYPR Lite is fine because it is still spec'd for the platform - random light arrows are not.
