Killer Instinct 415 Crossbows Compared
Killer Instinct currently sells four crossbows rated at 415 FPS: the wide Burner 415 and three narrow X-Cam bows, the FanatiX 415, Vital-XDC and Neo-XDC. All four are listed at about 141 ft-lb of kinetic energy, so the choice comes down to width, draw weight, length and de-cocking.
Below are the official numbers side by side, plus the older 415s you will still find for sale. Looking at slower bows too? See the 405 FPS comparison.

Wide versus narrow at 415
The Burner 415 gets to 415 FPS the traditional way: 220 pounds of draw weight on a 14.75-inch-wide compound frame. It is the lightest bow here at 6.7 lb and shares its stock, Micro-Lite barrel and X-Lok foregrip with the Boss 405.
The FanatiX 415, Vital-XDC and Neo-XDC get the same speed from a 15-inch power stroke and the X-Cam system, which lets them pull only 195 pounds and stay 6.75 inches wide cocked. They weigh 8 to 8.2 lb. The Neo-XDC adds a reverse-limb layout that brings overall length down to 28 inches without the foot stirrup, the shortest of any current Killer Instinct.
As one owner put it when comparing speed ratings across the range:
With the killer instincts the varied speed isn't so much where the difference comes but in the crossbow it's self. Some of the faster models ...

Which 415 fits which hunter
- Budget and light weight: Burner 415.
- Tight blinds and stands: Neo-XDC, at 28 inches long and 6.75 inches wide.
- Easy evening de-cock: Vital-XDC or Neo-XDC. Both have the DC Triggerbox, which lets you de-cock by hand instead of shooting a bolt.
- Narrow frame without paying for the DC Triggerbox: FanatiX 415, which the official store also sells in a bundle with the DSC crank.
- Crank built in: the older Fuel 415 has an integrated RDC crank and still appears at retailers.
Older 415s: Ripper 415, Bone Collector 415, HD 415 RDC
The Ripper 415, the Bone Collector 415 and the HD 415 RDC are no longer in the official crossbow list, but each still has its own spare-parts page in the official store. For the Ripper 415 the store lists a 37-inch replacement string and 20.25-inch cables; the Bone Collector 415 and HD 415 RDC use the store's SPK-STRING-1 string and SPK-CABLESET-1 cables. The Bone Collector 415 manual sets a 370-grain minimum with 20-inch bolts. More on older models in discontinued Killer Instinct crossbows.

Limb failure is the complaint that comes up most often for Killer Instinct across speeds. Two things reduce the risk on your side: never shoot a bolt below the minimum weight in your manual, and register the bow within 30 days so the warranty is active.
